Latham collects the trophy and joins his team-mates as they pose for the photographs. New Zealand didn't turn up for this dead rubber. After registering two comfortable wins, they were skittled out for 97 on a seam-friendly track. Even their bowlers managed to pick just one wicket. Shows you how they were outplayed. Bangladesh, meanwhile, didn't put a foot wrong today. A historic win for Shanto and Co. and it's time to bring the curtains down on this series. The three-match T20I series commences on Wednesday here in Napier. Until then, it's goodbye...

Najmul Hossain Shanto | Bangladesh captain: Really proud of the way the boys played this match. Before we started this series, we believed we can win this series. Last couple of matches, we played well but we couldn't finish, but the boys played some good cricket and we got the right result today. The bowlers weren't looking for the wicket, they bowled in the good areas for a long period of time and I am really proud of the way they bowled today. I didn't try to smash, I just played my game and focused on my batting process. This match will give us a lot of confidence. But T20 is a different format, we have to plan for that. Hopefully boys can play good cricket in the T20s as well.

Tom Latham | New Zealand captain: Very below-par performance. With the bat, we weren't able to build any partnership. Bangladesh found a way to bowl on that surface and managed to get plenty out of it. We weren't able to build any pressure and put it back on them. Pretty disappointing. I didn't expect it to be a usual McLean Park wicket. Bangladesh found a beautiful length to bowl and they were able to hit the stumps with some sideways movement which we weren't able to counter. Full credit to them. At the halfway mark, we knew they'd come quite hard with the bat and try to hit us off our lengths which they did. As a whole, you always look at a series and it's nice we were able to introduce some new guys into the team, give some guys international experience. Every time you lose, every game you play, you always want to the learn. The last three games, the guys will certainly learn from the challenge that they've been up against and also things they've done well.

Will Young | Player of the Series: It was tough work. It's a shame, sun is finally shining, it would have been nice to make more of a game of it. Series win in the end, we'd take that. The wicket had pace in it, the ball was swinging, every now and then, it jumped up as well, did make life really tough. Nice to get a crack in ODI format, was on the drinks a little bit in India which was disappointing for me. Nice to get back here, play on grounds I am really familiar with and put some performances on the board. You got to make most of your opportunities as it comes along, that's what this series is. I have played a lot of domestic cricket here. Managed to get some runs which is awesome. (1000 ODI runs in this year) I didn't know, was wondering what the clap was about and then Tommy (Latham) said to me as I was batting with him. Pretty cool accomplishment. Hopefully a few more runs in the future too.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib | Player of the Match: Really happy. How I started, it was really good. I really enjoyed bowling there. The ball was nipping, the ball was swinging. It helped the team and set the tone for the team. I tried to bowl wicket-to-wicket and tried to hold my line and length. The wicket really helped me. Was really god for pace bowlers. Last match, I bowled here and there. I had to keep it tight, that's what I did today.

15:08 Local Time, 02:08 GMT, 07:38 IST: A massive win for Bangladesh. After losing the first two matches, the visitors opted to field and the bowlers didn't disappoint their captain. Swing + seam + extra bounce = Bangladesh bowlers on fire! Tanzim Hasan Sakib was impeccable with the new ball and picked up a couple of wickets in the first powerplay. Just when it looked like Young and Latham would rebuild the innings, Shoriful came back to remove both the batters. The left-arm speedster picked three wickets in three overs in his second spell and Sakib too added one more to his tally. Soumya Sarkar picked a three-fer as well as he removed the lower order batters for fun. Mustafizur applied the finishing touches by nipping out the final NZ batter as the hosts got bundled out for 98. In reply, Bangladesh ensured that there were no hiccups. Sarkar played and missed a few before walking off the field with some discomfort in his right eye. Shanto joined Anamul and the duo hit a flurry of boundaries to extinguish any hope (if any) in the NZ camp. Anamul fell to O'Rourke for 37 but that was too little and too late for the home team. Captain Shanto notched up a fifty and fittingly hit the winning runs as the visitors hunted down the total with 34.5 overs to spare.
