The Committee of Administrators for BCCI on Sunday (February 19) barred ex-officials of the IPL Governing Council from attending the 2017 IPL Auction on Monday, slated to be held in Bangalore on Monday (February 20).

The CoA noted that CK Khanna, Amitabh Choudhary and Anirudh Chaudhary and any other ex-member of the IPL's Governing Council won't be entitled to partake in the event since the Supreme Court is yet to decide on the matter pertaining to the validity of the undertakings field by them in January earlier this year.

The Supreme Court order dated January 2, 2017 left the running of the Indian cricket board in the hands of a CEO, under the supervision of the CoA. It makes Chaudhary and other members persona non-grata with regard to decision-making of the board.

Khanna was the board's senior-most vice president, while Anirudh served as the treasurer. Amitabh, on the other hand, was serving as joint secretary of the board before the trio was rendered powerless with the appointment of the COA.

In relation to other members of the GC, only those office-bearers who aren't disqualified with regard to the orders issued by the the apex court are entitled to attend the auction.

The CoA doesn't have complete information to conclude whether the members of the governing council barring the ex-offico are 'disqualified' or not. As a result, other members have to judge for themselves to determine whether they are eligible to attend the meeting.

In case only two office-bearers are available to partake in the Monday event, then the roles performed by the governing council will be taken up by the CoA or the CoA may appoint members designated for the said purpose.
