Shannon Gabriel has come in for high praise from West Indies' bowling consultant, Curtly Ambrose for the way he bowled in the first Test against Bangladesh. The pacer took 3 wickets in the Test but impressed onlookers with his consistent pace, touching speeds close to 150 kph regularly.

"I thought he bowled extremely quick on a very slow pitch, he bowled very well. As the bowling consultant, I keep telling him that you are bowling well and it is only a matter of time before luck comes your way. I am quite impressed with him. He bowled quickly," said Ambrose.

Ambrose was also happy with the way the bowling unit performed as a whole in the match. West Indies won the match by 10 wickets. Suleiman Benn picked up 7 wickets in the match while Kemar Roach accounted for 5.

"The bowlers bowled very well in some tough conditions. The pitch is not really conducive for fast bowling. Not a lot is in the pitch for the bowlers but we keep talking about being patient and being disciplined and I have to say that the guys have been really showing that," said the former Windies pacer.

The second Test between West Indies and Bangladesh begins on 13 September at St. Lucia.
