Led by Glenn Maxwell's all-round performance (35* & 3-29), Melbourne Stars secured their second win of the season, beating Hobart Hurricanes by 7 wickets in a rain-hit encounter in Hobart.

Put in to bat, Hurricanes were bundled out for 155 courtesy three wickets apiece from Maxwell and Haris Rauf. Caleb Jewell and Macalister Wright had helped the hosts to a a steady start, but a flurry of wickets through the middle overs pegged them back. Nikhil Chaudhary's 16-ball 32 offered a late blitz but not enough to help them bat out their quota of overs.

With rain reducing the play period, Stars were left needing 67 in 7 overs. Even as Riley Meredith dismissed Sam Herper and Marcus Stoinis in the opening overs for ducks, and Hilton Cartwright was dismissed for two in the next over, Maxwell and Thomas Rogers ensured that the attack was on. While the former smashed four sixes, Rogers hit as many boundaries, taking down Chris Jordan and Patrick Dooley for 33 runs in two overs combined. They chased down the total with three balls to spare.

Brief Scores: Hobart Hurricanes 155 in 19.4 overs (Caleb Jewell 45, Macalister Wright 33; Haris Rauf 3-24, Glenn Maxwell 3-29) beat Melbourne Stars 67/3 in 6.3 overs (Glenn Maxwell 35*, Thomas Rogers 21*; Riley Meredith 2-15) by 7 wickets (DLS)
