Bangladesh announce their squad

Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby will lead 15-member squad in the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup, Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Monday, January 1 2024

BCB decided to keep faith on the full squad that clinched maiden Under-19 Asia Cup title in December 2023.

Rabby was given the captaincy ahead of the Asia Cup and his performance as impressed the board to continue with him as the team leader in the biggest age-level global 50-over tournament, scheduled in South Africa from January 19.

Former skipper Ahrar Amin will act as Rabby's deputy in the tournament.

Bangladesh are slotted in Group A in the tournament alongside India, Ireland and the USA. The top two teams of the group will move on to the quarterfinals of this 16-team event.

Uday Saharan to captain India at the U19 World Cup

The middle-order batter from Punjab will lead the team having already led them in the U19 Asia Cup in Dubai.

ICC moves the tournament from Sri Lanka to South Africa

After the suspension of the Sri Lanka Cricket board due to government interference as cited by ICC, the tournament was shifted out of the island country. While alternative venue options included Oman and UAE, the venue was finalised as South Africa. CSA had also agreed to keep three venues as per requirement for the tournament. While the board remains suspended, the ICC has agreed to allow Sri Lanka U19 team to participate.
