Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Navdeep Saini (standby player) have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of India's white-ball series against West Indies. Mayank Agarwal, as a result, has been added to the ODI squad. The first of the three ODIs is scheduled to start on Sunday (February 6) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Corroborating an earlier report by Cricbuzz, the BCCI said that a total of seven members of the Indian contingent tested positive, including T Dilip (Fielding Coach), B Lokesh (Security Liaison Officer) and Rajeev Kumar (Massage Therapist) after three rounds of testing.

All those who have tested positive have been moved to a different floor in the hotel and are in isolation.

The Indian team is currently in quarantine in Ahmedabad in preparation for the six-match white-ball series against West Indies. "Every member was also asked to undergo an RT-PCR test at home before embarking on their journey to Ahmedabad and the travel was undertaken only after testing negative," the BCCI clarified.

The Indian team has been staying in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the city since Monday. The team was to undergo three-day quarantine before the practice sessions kick off. The quarantine period entered its third day today (Wednesday, February 2) and the team would have started practising from tomorrow, but there is ambiguity now if the practice would indeed start as scheduled.

The West Indies team, which reached Ahmedabad on Wednesday morning, is also put up in the same hotel as India, and so are the match officials.

Mayank's addition to the squad notwithstanding, India have come with a large contingent (of about 26 members, including net bowlers) and there is no imminent threat to the series overall.

Meanwhile, a Cricket West Indies (CWI) official has confirmed that there are no positive cases in the visiting camp. "We were all negative before we left Barbados. And all negative on our arrival tests at the airport yesterday in Ahmedabad. We are in room isolation on a separate floor to the Indian team as per the protocols," the top-ranked official told Cricbuzz.
