PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Phoebe Litchfield

Phoebe Litchfield, the future Meg Lanning of Australian cricket as I'd love to call. Just watch out for her. She may have missed out on a well-deserved hundred tonight, but the baby-faced batting genius displayed great strength and application to wade her way out of trouble after a scratchy start. Thanks to her knock, and the association with the legendary Perry of course, Australia have gone 1-0 up in the series with 2 more to go. Can India square the series with a win on Saturday? Do remember to join us for the second ODI on the weekend. Same place, same time. Cheers!!

Phoebe Litchfield | Player of the Match: This one is pretty special, but all of them (previous Player of the Match awards) are equally special. Pez (Perry) just played her own game, struck it straight really well, although I was struggling at the start. The whole partnership was really enjoyable. The pacers got the ball to move in a little but apart from that there's nothing much out there for the bowlers. Still need to work on a few areas and try not to get out in the 80s.

Alyssa Healy | Australian skipper: Great night for us, great to get off to a win at the start of the series and lots to play for. I thought we could have kept them around to 250, they put a really good total and I thought their batting group cruised in at the back end, we got areas to work on. It's just about playing straight with the bat, we don't really sweep too much and probably helps when the ball is skidding on a little bit. We just played our natural game with the bat.

Harmanpreet Kaur | Indian skipper: I think we managed a good score, but I think the fielding was not upto the mark. It is something that didn't really work well for us. After a while, dew was there but the bowlers were trying their best to attack the stumps, but fielding was something I feel played a really big role today. Pooja got us back into the game with her batting and we need to keep doing the right things. Just need to back ourselves and play that aggressive brand of cricket.

Ellyse Perry: It was awesome fun to be out there with Phoebe. We spoke about it after the Test match, I thought Phoebe batted especially well and the girls did a great job in the end there. It's really nice conditions to bat here and I think we have been pushed by India in whatever format we play against and I think we gotta raise the bar and we managed that really nice tonight. The total was roundabout par and particularly with the lights coming on, the ball was coming on really well. We had lots of fun over the last few days. Today the way we came out and started, the energy in our fielding was backed up by the bowling and it was nice to finish off with a win as well.

20:40 local, 15:10 GMT, 20:40 IST: Second highest successful run-chase in the history of Women's cricket. Who's surprised? It's Australia. The mighty Australia. No Meg Lanning, no problem. There's talent aplenty in the pool of World Champions. The only positive for India in the second innings was the wicket of skipper Healy in the first over. Post that, it's been all Australia. Perry and Litchfield stuck together for a 148-run stand and then it was the turn of Mooney and McGrath who were involved in a 88-run stand for the 4th wicket. One of the most eye-catching features of Australia's chase is their tendency to use feet against spinners and manipulating the field by using supple wrists. All in all, it was a clinical run-chase from the girls in Yellow.
