The Indian Premier League auction for the 2019 edition will be held in Jaipur on December 18, the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed on Monday (December 3). A total of 70 slots are available with a maximum of 50 Indian players and 20 overseas players allowed to be picked.

Kings XI Punjab have the maximum amount left in the purse having released 11 players from their pool. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings can buy just two players - having retained 23 players - and have Rs. 8.4 crores in their bank. Apart from KXIP, Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are also expected to be on a shopping spree.

Mumbai Indians will look to fill just one overseas spot while Knight Riders can buy the maximum number of overseas players - five. Sunrisers Hyderabad have Rs. 9.70 crores in their purse and have three Indian slots and two overseas slots to fill.

The auction is expected to be a short one with just one day designated for the event.
