Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary is upset that he got limited chances with Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the recently-concluded edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) and mentioned that the lack of opportunities cost him the possibility of a recall to the Indian cricket team.

While he was part of the DD XI in five matches, Tiwary got a chance to bat in only two matches (he came to the crease but did not face a ball against Kings XI Punjab) - both against Kolkata Knight Riders - and he came up with scores of 32 and 25. According to IANS reports, the 29-year-old expressed his disappointment by saying: "Not many chances came my way playing for Delhi Daredevils (DD) in IPL. How do you expect me to be selected for the national squad?"

However, Tiwary, in an interaction with Cricbuzz, denied making any such comments.

Tiwary was not at his best in the 2014-15 season of the Ranji Trophy, managing only 349 runs at an average of 26.84. However, he did impress in the List-A matches that he played in the last season, scoring 302 runs in five innings at an average of 60.40 with one hundred and two fifties. Tiwary last represented India in June 2014, during the ODI series against Bangladesh.

The talented batsman, who is not part of the Indian squads for the Bangladesh tour, is keen on doing well in the upcoming India A tours and is hopeful of making it to the Indian squad for the World T20, which will be played in India next year. "The only thing I can do is keep on performing, utilise the A tours to the limit and hopefully get a chance in the 2016 T20 World Cup," Tiwary said.
