Pollard to join England coaching team for T20 World Cup

Kieron Pollard, the former West Indies all-rounder, will be part of the England men's coaching setup for the 2024 T20 World Cup which will be held in the West Indies and the USA. Pollard will work as the assistant coach, a media release from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated.

"Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has been appointed to the England Men's coaching team for next year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States. Pollard will join the England Men's team specifically for the T20 World Cup as an assistant coach and to provide expertise of local conditions," the ECB release stated.Pollard to join England coaching team for T20 World Cup

Pollard, who retired from international cricket last year and also announced his IPL retirement, has been part of the Mumbai Indians coaching staff as the batting coach. He was part of West Indies' 2012 World Cup winning squad.

The 2024 T20 World Cup will be the ninth edition of the tournament and will be played in the West Indies for only the second time. As many as 20 teams will be part of the competition which will be played from June 4 to 30.

England are the defending champions, having won the title by beating Pakistan in the 2022 edition which was played in Australia. England also won their maiden T20 World Cup in the third edition (2010) which was held in the West Indies.
