Steve Smith, the Australia all-rounder, will return home from the ongoing tour of England because of an injury. The 24-year-old sustained a minor left quad strain during the training session on Wednesday and after a demanding Ashes Series that concluded recently, Cricket Australia (CA) have decided that it is best for him to return back. CA said that following Smith's involvement in the Ashes, and the preceding Australia A tour, a decision had been made to rest him from the limited-overs matches. The CA also said that there will be no replacement for Smith. "Smith sustained a very minor left quad strain at training and after a demanding Ashes series the national selection panel (NSP) has decided it is best for him to return to Australia," a statement read. "The NSP has advised that no replacement player will be added to the squad." Australia won the first NatWest Twenty20 international by 39 runs at the Ageas Bowl before England hit back to level the series on Saturday, 31st August 2013, in Chester-le-Street. Australia next play Scotland in a one-off one-day international and England in a five-game series.
