Karnataka all-rounder, Stuart Binny, has been drafted into the ODI side for the next two One Day Internationals against Sri Lanka, as the replacement for the injured Varun Aaron. "Varun Aaron is injured, and he has been replaced by Stuart Binny in the Indian team for the second and third games of the Micromax Cup India vs Sri Lanka ODI Series 2014," a BCCI media release stated.

"The meeting of the All-India Senior Selection Committee to pick the Indian team for the last two ODIs of the ongoing series, and the side for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, has been postponed," the release further stated. No reason has been given for the decision to postpone the selection meeting for the final two ODIs as well as the Australia Test squad.

Varun Aaron had to pull out mid-way through his 5th over in the first ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday in Cuttack. The speedster was said to be hampered by a quadriceps muscle injury.

Stuart Binny has been an integral part of the Indian ODI side and returned with incredible figures of 4.4-2-4-6 against Bangladesh in Dhaka in June this year, the best ever ODI figures by an Indian bowler, beating Anil Kumble's haul of 6/12 against West Indies in the final of the Hero Cup, 1993.

Consequently, he was selected for the tour of England, where he made his Test debut in the first Test at Trent Bridge. Binny was a part of the ODI squad for the England series, but didn't feature in even a single match. Subsequently, he was left out of the team for the ODIs against West Indies.

Selected for the South Zone team for the Duleep Trophy semi-finals against East Zone, Binny proved his ability with the ball, grabbing seven wickets and paving the way for South Zone's entry into the final. He missed the final though after being selected to the India 'A' squad for the tour match against Sri Lanka at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
