After a one-sided opening game we had a close encounter today. What does the third game have in store? We have Adelaide Strikers taking on Brisbane Heat tomorrow. Join us for that game. Until next time, goodbye and stay safe..

Steven Smith | Player of the Match: I thought it was a great performance. We had to dig deep there. Fraser-McGruk played a good knock, Finchy did not quite get going but he hung around and Sutherland towards the end.. we did well to hold our nerves. I started well but got stuck in the middle, I felt it was a par total on this surface. Good support for the first game of the season. I like playing BBL, love opening the batting and going out and expressing myself. Looking forward to a successful summer. Pakistan are a good side with bat and ball, hopefully we have success.

22:44 Local Time, 11:44 GMT, 17:14 IST: Excellent work by Sydney Sixers to defend this total. But the Melbourne Renegades have themselves to blame, only Fraser-McGruk and Sutherland showed any sort of intent in the chase. They lost three wickets early on but Fraser-McGruk kept the scoreboard ticking with Finch playing anchor. Once he departed Sutherland stepped up but the ask too much for only the duo to complete. They needed some more support from the others. The Sixers knew the conditions and bowled accordingly, Abbott and Curran executed their plans at the death while Dwarshuis picked up the wickets. Also, a shout out to Jordan Silk who made an important stop in the final over which almost sealed the game in Sixers' favour.

19.6

Dwarshuis to Sutherland, 1 run, Sydney Sixers win by 8 runs. Back of a length and around off, Sutherland goes for the pull and miscues it to long-on

19.5

Dwarshuis to Sutherland, no run, that should be the game. Slower ball angled across the batter, Sutherland swings across the line and misses. The ball did not bounce and sneaked under the bat

19.4

Dwarshuis to Sutherland, 2 runs, oh my! Silk has pulled off a blinder of a save. He even eggs the crowd on to cheer louder. Sutherland absolutely nails the pull and the ball seemed to be racing away to the fence, but Silk covers ground quickly near deep mid-wicket and dives full length to his left to make the stop. He definitely saved a couple. 10 off 2

FYI, the Sixers were behind the over-rate and had to get a fielder in for this over. So five men inside the ring

19.3

Dwarshuis to Sutherland, 2 runs, slower ball that is fraction short, Sutherland pulls it wide of long-on and calls for two straightaway, gets it with ease. 12 off 3

19.2

Dwarshuis to Sutherland, SIX, that surely makes it interesting. Length delivery on leg-stump and that's easy pickings for any batter, Sutherland uses his long levers and sends it sailing way back into the deep square leg stand

19.2

Dwarshuis to K Richardson, 2 wides, slower ball but sprayed well outside off, Richardson has no chance of connecting and Sutherland quickly crosses over. 20 off 5

Kane Richardson, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.1

Dwarshuis to Tom Rogers, out Bowled!! Dragged on! Wicket off the first ball and Sutherland left at the other end. Rogers once again looks for the lap but Dwarshuis spotted that and kept it well outside off, Rogers tries the reverse paddle but misses that too, the ball strikes him on the back leg and then deflects onto the stumps. Tom Rogers b Dwarshuis 10(12) [4s-1]

Dwarshuis to Tom Rogers, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

Ben Dwarshuis [3.0-0-23-2] is back into the attack

22 needed off the last over. Dwarshuis going to bowl and Rogers will be on strike. Which way the match would go? Let's find out..

18.6

Abbott to Tom Rogers, 1 run, excellent stuff from Abbott. Just 6 runs off the over including a no-ball. What's more Sutherland is not on strike for the last over as well. Rogers premeditates the lap and Abbott takes pace off, the mistimed lap rolls to short fine and Sutherland takes the single

18.5

Abbott to Tom Rogers, no run, now charges down and is met by a short ball, Rogers goes through with the pull but the ball climbs over the top-edge

18.4

Abbott to Tom Rogers, no run, missed the yorker but gets away with it. Full pitcher and Rogers drills it straight back, Abbott stops it with his boot. Important save as that would have been a couple at least

18.3

Abbott to Sutherland, 1 run, another delivery right in the yorker zone, Sutherland toe-ends it to short third

18.2

Abbott to Sutherland, 2 runs, makes up by spearing it into the blockhole, Sutherland squeezes it towards long-on and Rogers races back for the second
