West Indies will be pulling out of the Indian tour following the fourth ODI at Dharamsala.

The decision follows an ongoing feud between the West Indies' players and West Indies Players Association (WIPA) over payment disputes. Dwayne Bravo, the West Indies captain, had written to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to not do negotiations with WIPA but the request was shot down by WICB.

Wavell Hinds, the WIPA president and CEO, has been accused of keeping the players in the dark regarding a Memorandum of Understanding signed by WIPA and WICB.

In a letter to WICB ahead of the fourth ODI, Dwayne Bravo had said:

We were truly hoping that the WICB together with WIPA and/or the players would do everything in their power to seriously address the concerns of the players. Regrettably, this has not happened.

Mr. President, having taken the field in good faith, [we] appealed to WIPA to address our concerns to no avail and asked the WICB to demonstrate with action, what is often bandied about in words, namely that they are interested in player welfare and partnership, it seems to us that there has been no reciprocal action

As a consequence and as a matter of principle, we cannot be party to this grave injustice. The players regretfully wish to advise that they can no longer accept this situation, which has affected each and every player in a very negative way. The players are under tremendous stress and undue pressure. We have informed the Manager and Coach of our decision to return home with the hope that these issues will be addressed to the satisfaction of all.

In the fourth ODI, the entire West Indies squad walked out with Dwayne Bravo to the toss in an attempt to display the unity in the squad. One ODI, one T20I and three Tests remain according to the schedule.

"They've withdrawn the team abruptly. We received an e-mail from Richie Richardson, WI team manager, this morning," BCCI secretary, Sanjay Patel, was quoted as saying who also went to add on that the 'BCCI won't take this lying down.'

Reports also suggest the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) will sue WICB over the losses suffered due to the pull out. West Indies' players will fly back on their own expenses and BCCI are also trying to get Sri Lanka in for a short tour.
