Pakistan is likely to have a new coach in place of the incumbent, Dav Whatmore before the series against Sri Lanka starting at the end of the year in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board's interim committee, Najam Sethi said that the PCB was working upon the idea to release all their foreign coaches employed with the national team, including head coach, Dav Whatmore and fielding coach, Julien Fountain. "The fate of the coaching staff could be decided in the next 10 to 15 days," Sethi told reporters in Abu Dhabi after Pakistan lost the ODI series to South Africa. Dav Watmore's contract with the PCB will expire in January, 2014 and the national board has already given broad hints that they are not interested in renewing the Australian's contract. There are media reports in Pakistan that Whatmore himself is not in favour of renewing his contract and is said to be in touch with Cricket South Africa (CSA) for a position there. Under Whatmore, Pakistan have failed to show much improvement, particularly in the Test format of the game and he along with skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq have come under fire for some of their tactics. If Whatmore's contract is not renewed, Pakistan's forthcoming short tour of South Africa, comprising of 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is will be his final assignment as Pakistan's coach.
