Players on the radar?
There are lots. Some who were shockingly not picked last season, some released ahead of today's event, some associate performers and a handful of unknown quantities who could give teams an X-factor. Purnima Malhotra gives you a detailed low-down.
Did you know:It's not just Hardik Pandya who made all the headlines for a player trade. Annabel Sutherland, who was released by Gujarat Giants, was being considered in a trade deal between the Giants and UP Warriorz. That deal eventually collapsed but it will be interesting to see if UPW go big for her in the auction.
Prelude - Auction 2.0
It's here! The second edition of the WPL auction. If last year's event was ground breaking for women's cricket - particularly in India - then this year, you could expect a lot more strategy. Last year's auction was a big learning process for all teams in squad building and doing it within the limits of a budget, about overpaying and underpaying and perhaps, on how to go about bidding astutely. Which is why today afternoon's event should be exciting, considering teams are now better equipped to approach this unpredictable aspect of the tournament. It's not a big auction, but there's still excitement.
Here's how the teams shaping up in terms of their squad size, salary capandavailable slots:
Franchise | No of Players | No of Overseas Players | Total money spent (Rs.) | Salary cap available (Rs.) | Available Slots | Overseas Slots |

DC | 15 | 5 | 11.25 | 2.25 | 3 | 1 |

RCB | 11 | 3 | 10.15 | 3.35 | 7 | 3 |
UPW | 13 | 5 | 9.5 | 4 | 5 | 1 |
Total | 60 | 21 | 49.85 | 17.65 | 30 | 9 |
