Feb 22nd, 1996:Netherlands fight, but lose to England

It was another creditable show from the Dutch as they squeezed England to the limit before succumbing to a 49-run loss at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar. Graeme Hick's superb 104 and Graham Thorpe's 89 ensured a head start for the Englishmen but the Dutch pulled things back to restrict England to 279 for 4. In reply, Tim de Leede (father of Netherlands international, Bas de Leede) stroked a boundary-laden 41, but the contest was over when they slipped to 81 for 4. Klaas-Jan van Noortwijk and Bas Zuiderent then added 114 runs for the 5th wicket as Netherlands batted out their 50 overs once again and finished with a respectable 230 on the board.

16th Feb 2003:Anderson leaves Netherlands in disarray

Batting remained a cause of concern for the Netherlands as they were brushed aside by England in the second match at East London. Tim de Leede's 96-ball 58 was the only piece of defiance from the Netherlands after they'd slipped to 31 for 5. They eventually finished at 142 for 9 with James Anderson finishing with 4 for 25. The target wasn't going to be a challenge for England as Nick Knight and Michael Vaughan made fifties to seal a 6-wicket victory. Dan van Bunge did give late cheer for the Dutch as he scalped 3 quickfire wickets, including both the half-centurions.

22nd Feb 2011: Ten Doeschate's ton goes in vain as England chase down 292

Ryan Ten Doeschate's pristine 119 paled in comparison to England's combined batting performance as the English unit chased down 292 in the 49th over with 6 wickets to spare. Skipper Strauss scored an imperious 88 at the top of the order and was well supported by Jonathan Trott who scored 62. Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Collingwood and Bopara scored 30s to ensure it was a good batting outing for the England side. Earlier, Netherlands on back of Doeschate's ton managed to rack up 292. Pacers James Anderson and Stuart Broad didn't prove effective as the Dutch batters scored at a brisk pace. Graeme Swann was able to slow down the rate a little but Netherlands put up a competitive total on board.
