Younis Khan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captain, on Saturday (April 23) decided to quit playing the Pakistan Cup after he was fined 100 percent of his match fees, for his dissent against umpiring decisions during the game against Islamabad.

Younis severely criticised the umpiring standards in the tournament and was fined for his outburst. The 38-year-old scored 61 and 2 in two matches he played in the tournament.

According to a report in Express Tribune, Younis had a verbal exchange with Rashid Riaz, the reserve umpire. Riaz then complained to Azizur Rehman, the match referee, who fined the captain. In their second game, Pakhtunkhwa posted a total of 262 runs and then kept Punjab to 260 to seal a two-run win but Younis wasn't too happy with a number of decisions in the game, including the one that went against them, when Misbah-ul-Haq was batting.

Ahmad Shahzad will now lead the side in Younis's absence.
