Zulqarnain Haider's sudden departure

The Pakistan cricket Board's disciplinary committee has fined wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider for breaching the code of conduct but has allowed him to resume his cricket career.

A fact-finding committee looking into Pakistan cricketer Zulqarnain Haider's sudden flight to England, saying he had received death threats to influence matches, called him mentally "weak".

The committee appointed by the PCB submitted its report on Zulqarnain Haider's disappearance, but the PCB declined to comment on the report.

The wife of Zulqarnain Haider wants to join her husband in London as she fears for her children's safety after Haider said he would expose those taking bribes in Pakistan cricket.

After remaining elusive for days, the three-member fact-finding committee of PCB has finally made contact with Zulqarnain Haider.

Afridi said that he was appalled by Haider's decision to leave the team hotel in Dubai and flee to London and seek asylum there.

Zulqarnain says he has spoken to the PCB chief who has assured him of complete assistance and cooperation.

The 24-year-old wrote on his Facebook account that the News of the World tabloid had offered him lots of money for an interview but he spoke to them without taking a penny.

Pakistan wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider said Friday he was taking a stand against corruption in cricket and hoped other young professionals would be inspired by his example.

The incident is supposed to have taken place in the 2008-09 season, in a match involving Lahore and NBP during the Royal Bank of Scotland Cup.
